Here at Heartbeat of Sandusky we strongly believe in education. We have several groups that meet throughout the year. If you are interested in joining one of our amazing groups. Give us a call, we'd love to talk to you!
Stepping Up To Success
Earn While You Learn
Earn While You Learn is a group for moms (with children up to age 3) and moms to be. By attending this group, moms earn "Baby Bucks"/"Mommy Money" that can be used in our in house "store". Our Mommy and Me store is stocked with a variety of much needed items such as toiletry items, baby items, and household items. We have classes and discussions on nutrition, money management, healthy ways to interact with your child, emergency management, cooking nutritionally on a shoestring budget, legal issues to consider, and gardening. This moms only group meets once a week and is truly an empowerment group where you can make friends, find support, and grow!
S.M.I.L.E. (Single Moms with Infants Learning Empowerment)
This group was started in March 2011 for teen moms to be. We focus on not losing the "me" when you become a "we". We discuss topics such as nutrition, prenatal care, the importance of education, job preparedness and more! Trained professionals from networking agencies talk about labor and delivery, and how to properly bathe your baby among other things. This group aims to prepare young ladies for motherhood. This group addresses areas of concern for expectant teens. Group facilitator, Beth Frank, is a retiree from Northpointe Educational Services Center.
S.M.I.L.E 2 Baby Talk
This group was started in October 2011, and is facilitated by Rita Bragg. The focus of this group is on baby and mom as well as learning what to look for in speech development as well as fine and gross motor development.
